“One was the hue of the Earth
The other was the hue of the Sky
The last was the hue of his wife’s cheeks”
- Avtaar Singh Paash, The Wound of the Thorn (1974)

The Wound of the Valentine draws from the works of both poets in its depiction of having lost a lover. While the writings of Siken influence the digital collages seen within this chapter, excerpts from the poetry of Paash which memorialise one’s love using colour are borrowed and applied as visual cues. The images and digital collages, in hues of red, blue and green are used to represent the various stages of separation. When viewed in completion, this piece of work illustrates a story of a single man’s journey to acceptance.
